May is mental health awareness month, and it is exciting to see so much coverage of this issue in the news. While celebrities sharing their stories and struggles definitely helps ease the stigma, it is our own personal sharing with each other that truly opens us up to asking for help and seeking care when needed. It is easy to post a note on social media inviting friends to talk to you if they are struggling, but much harder to ask someone directly how they are feeling. I hope you are inspired this month to check on a family member, co-worker or friend by looking them in the eye and asking about them. Most importantly, I hope you listen to them.
